How it works

Injured at work, treated under WorkCover.

In NSW, treatment for a work injury runs through icare and your employer's insurer. What we do is the assessment, the hands-on treatment, the exercise, and a plan to get you back to your job at the pace your body can handle. The paperwork sits in the background — we take care of it so you can focus on getting better.

From injury to first appointment

Getting treated for a work injury, step by step.

  1. Tell your employer

Notify your employer as soon as possible. They lodge the claim with their insurer. Or call us — we can help you sort the claim out.

  2. Certificate of Capacity

Your GP fills in the Certificate of Capacity — a form that says what you can and can't do at work, and what treatment you're approved for.

  3. Book the appointment

When you book, just tell us it's WorkCover.

  4. Getting treatment approved

Most sessions need approval before they start. Your practitioner sends a treatment request to your case manager, and we'll let you know once it comes back.

  5. Treatment and check-ins

You come in for the work — assessment, hands-on treatment, exercise, getting you back to your job — and we send updates to your case manager when the scheme asks for them.

Claim still being sorted

When you can't wait for the claim to come through.

If your claim is still being looked at and you need to be seen now, there's often a way to start treatment early while it's sorted out. Call us before you book — your practitioner will talk you through what's possible and where things sit.
