Psychology in Marulan.

We treat Marulan residents from our Goulburn clinic — about 26 minutes and 30 km away.

Local care

Psychology for Marulan residents.

Marulan sits on the Hume Motorway about 26 minutes and 30 kilometres north-east of Goulburn, a quarry and freight town where shift rosters and long hauls shape daily life. Highway work carries its own risks, and a crash, a near-miss, or years of physically demanding shifts can leave a mental injury that never shows on an x-ray. We work with the anxiety, low mood, and trauma that follow workplace and traffic incidents, using CBT, ACT, EMDR, and schema therapy to help people rebuild.

Marulan's population has grown past 1,400, with young commuter families settling alongside quarry and freight workers, many juggling shift work, a growing household, and the trip to Goulburn. Whether it's stress that's built up over years or a single bad day on the highway, our AHPRA-registered psychologists are the right people to talk to.

What we treat

What Marulan patients see us for.

Common questions

Questions we get asked a lot.

  • Do I need a referral to see a psychologist from Marulan?

You don't need a referral to book, but a Medicare rebate needs a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP. WorkCover and CTP claims following a workplace or highway incident don't require this step — just your claim details.

  • Is the 26-minute drive from Marulan worth it for regular sessions?

Many Marulan clients keep a fortnightly or monthly session going. Thirty kilometres via the Hume Motorway is a manageable regular trip, and we offer telehealth for weeks the drive doesn't suit.

  • How do I get a Medicare rebate for psychology?

Your GP writes a Mental Health Treatment Plan, which covers up to ten rebated sessions a calendar year. Bring it to your first appointment and we bill Medicare directly where possible. You can also see a psychologist privately without a plan, or through NDIS, WorkCover, CTP, or DVA.

  • Is what I say confidential?

Yes. There are legal exceptions — risk to life, a court subpoena, and child-safety concerns — and the psychologist talks these through at the first session. Any contact with your GP, the person who referred you, or a family member needs your written consent.
