35 minutes from Collector

Podiatry in Collector.

We treat Collector residents from our Goulburn clinic — about 35 minutes and 40 km away.

Local care

Podiatry for Collector residents.

Heritage weatherboard homes and grazing paddocks define Collector, and the foot problems we see reflect both sides of village life — older residents managing diabetic foot care and the everyday wear of ageing feet, and grazing families dealing with heel pain and nail damage from years of farm boots.

At 35 minutes via the Federal Highway, about 40 kilometres, Collector is one of the longer drives on our books, so we try to bundle care where it makes sense — a nail surgery consult alongside a wound check, or an orthotics review timed with a routine visit, so the trip covers more than one thing.

For a village of around 350 people, that means planning matters. We work with you to space out appointments sensibly, particularly for standing programs like diabetic monitoring, so Collector residents aren't making the highway drive more often than they need to.

What we treat

What Collector patients see us for.

A podiatrist is who you see for feet, ankles, and lower legs — skin and nails through to how you walk. Our podiatrists are AHPRA-registered and do in-room treatment, nail surgery under local anaesthetic, orthotics, and wound and offloading care for at-risk feet.

Common questions

Questions we get asked a lot.

  • What funding applies to diabetic foot checks for Collector residents?

Medicare covers diabetic foot checks under a GP Chronic Disease Management plan; DVA and NDIS participants are covered under their own funding. Private health extras may also contribute — we can check your eligibility.

  • Can Collector visits be bundled to reduce the number of 40-kilometre trips?

Yes. We regularly combine a wound check, nail assessment, and orthotics review into one appointment for Collector patients, so a single 40-kilometre Federal Highway trip covers more ground and fewer separate visits are needed overall.

  • Do I need a referral to see a podiatrist?

No — you can book podiatry directly as a private patient. A referral or plan is only needed for funded care: a GP Chronic Disease Management plan for a Medicare rebate, or the paperwork for WorkCover, DVA, or NDIS. Diabetic foot checks are often set up through your GP as part of ongoing diabetes care.

  • When do I actually need orthotics?

Only when the walking assessment shows one will make a real difference — a posted heel for inside-arch overload, a met dome for ball-of-foot pain. Where footwear changes, taping, or a strengthening program will resolve the problem, we start with those rather than prescribing orthotics by default.
